Yamachu Honke Shuzo was founded around 1800 in Aichi Prefecture. Current owner Akihiro Yamada boldly shifted its focus away from chasing awards to using only the finest rice to brew. He contracts with farmers for top quality rice, such as special A-grade Tojo Yamada Nishiki from Hyogo and Nanto Gohyakumangoku from Toyama. Its brand Gikyo is powerful with rice umami with refined finish. The excellent ageing potential of Gikyo earns it unforgettable moments for koshu enthusiasts.
