About the brewery

Being one of the most historic breweries in Miyagi, Onuma Shuzoten was founded in 1712. Its brand Kenkonichi was named in the early Meiji era by Miyagi’s first governor, Matsudaira Masanao. Using local table rice such as Sasanishiki, it delivers rich and prominent rice umami. This quickly makes Kenkonichi a beloved mealtime sake, earning it the fame of 'brewing sake by cooked rice.'
