About the brand

Honbo Shuzo was founded in 1872 in Tsunuki, Kagoshima, and focused on shochu originally. After WW2, it launched the whisky brand Mars under the guidance of Kiichiro Iwai. The company now runs two distilleries with contrasting styles. Komagatake on the Alps in Nagano, yields a fine and delicate spirit, while Tsunuki produces warm and powerful whisky.
