About the brewery

Takachiyo Shuzo was founded in 1871 in Uonuma City, Niigata Prefecture. This beloved local brewery is also the guardian of Japan’s rare rice varietal Ichihonjime. Breaking from the region’s classic light-dry style, it uses ultra-soft water from Mount Makimi to create silky, fruit-rich sakes with a thrillingly crisp finish. Its Takachiyo series reveals no brewing details, inviting drinkers to experience the brewer’s pure artistry.
