About the brewery
Murayu Shuzo was founded in 1948 in Kusudo, Niigata. Breaking from the region’s classic light and dry style, it crafts richer sakes with beautiful sweet-acidic balance. Third-generation owner Kensuke Murayama places great emphasis on premium ingredients and quality. Inspired by German wine classification, he grades every sake by rice varietal, sweetness and brewing method. Murayu reveals only basic information on its labels so drinkers can purely enjoy the brewer’s intended flavours.
