About the brewery
Kobayashi Syuzo was founded in 1872 in Nikko in Tochigi, drawing its pure brewing water from the celebrated soft spring “Sake no Izumi”. Thanks to the water’s low mineral levels, every sake achieves delicate purity and refined elegance. Its flagship brand Hououbiden impresses with generous mouthfeel, intense ginjo fragrance and satisfying rice umami. Having overcome the threat of closure, it now stands as a world-renowned brewery and has become a source of pride for Tochigi.
