Brewery Introduction

Suminoe Shuzo is based in Ishinomaki in Miyagi, the leading port city in Tohoku area. Severely damaged in the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, it resumed sake production the following year with widespread support. Aiming for beautiful, soft and elegant sakes, the brewery pioneered using only Miyagi yeast but varying rice types for unique flavours. Suminoe selects the most premium varieties like Hyogo Yamada Nishiki and Miyagi Kura no Hana and Fukui Gohyakumangoku, making it one of Miyagi’s most popular breweries.
